On Monday the Golden State Warriors traded Stephen Jackson
and Acie Law to the Charlotte Bobcats for Raja Bell and Vladimir Radmanovic.
What are the impacts going to be in terms of fantasy basketball?
Stephen Jackson is clearly the most talented player
amongst the traded guys. With the Warriors he was averaging 16.2 points, 3.9
rebounds and 4.7 assists per game. Jackson will play SG in Charlotte and share
the main responsibility with Gerald Wallace offensively. The Bobcats play a
slower offensive style than the Warriors and this is why I believe his numbers
will remain similar to those he put up at Golden State. He will average roughly
17 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4 assists with the Bobcats but remains a must-start
option in all leagues and formats.
Acie Law has not seen much playing time at Golden
State where he averaged just 13:11 minutes per game. With an underperforming
backcourt at Charlotte he should see his playing time increase but not
significantly enough to make an impact in fantasy basketball. He is averaging
6.2 points, 0.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game.
Raja Bell was averaging 12.0 points, 4.2 rebounds and
2.0 assists with the Bobcats. I expect Monta Ellis to operate mainly as PG
which will make Raja Bell the starting SG. I would not be surprised if his
average will be nearer to 14 points with the Warriors but his average for
rebounds will see a slight drop. His assists per game should improve a little
though.
Raja Bell remains a low-end option but could provide you
with 3-pointers.
Vladimir Radmanovic could turn out to be the beneficiary
of this trade. With Kelenna Azbuike out for the season the Yugoslav could
become the starter at SF. He might be defensively challenged but he is a decent
provider of 3-pointers. He was averaging 4.9 points, 3.6 rebounds and 0.9
assists with the Bobcats in 16:36 minutes per game. He will easily play more
than 20 minutes per game at Golden State and I would not be surprised if he
averaged around 8 points per game with the Warriors. His average for rebounds
could drop below 3 but he should have roughly 1.5 assists per game.
These numbers do not make Radmanovic a low-end option yet
but we should further monitor his progress with the team.
