On Wednesday, 25 November 2009 Frankie Piliere, baseball analyst for MLB Fanhouse and former scout with
the Texas Rangers, conducted his weekly live chat.
Here are the questions I got to
ask him:
Thomas Kaunzner:
Which team is the best fit for Roy Halladay and who is most
likely to "pay the asking price” in order to acquire him?
Frankie Piliere:
Definitely the Red Sox I think. They don’t like losing and
they are as hungry as ever and will give up the guys to get him.
Thomas Kaunzner:
What’s your take on Chien-Ming Wang for 2010?
Frankie Piliere:
I was as baffled as anyone by Wang in 2009. Some guys can
bounce back and some guys can’t. He could be an enormous payoff for someone if
he returns to form. Too many worries for me though to throw too much at him.
Thomas Kaunzner:
Would Zack Greinke still have won the Cy Young if Cliff Lee
hadn’t been traded? Also, would Tim Lincecum have won it if Cliff Lee had been
with the Phillies from the start?
Frankie Piliere:
Greinke would win still I think, yes. Lee with a full year
in the NL would have given everyone a run for their money though.
