Probable pitchers for Monday, May 3

Gil Meche (KC) @ Jake Peavy (CWS)

Despite a batting average of .216 in their last 6 games the Royals won 3 games, i.e. Peavy is not even assured of a win here.

Joe Saunders (LAA) @ Clay Buchholz (BOS)
Brett Cecil (TOR) @ Mitch Talbot (CLE)

The Blue Jays are only batting .206 in their last 5 games.

Jeremy Guthrie (BAL) @ CC Sabathia (NYY)
Jaime Garcia (STL) @ Cole Hamels (PHI)

This game will show us if Garcia is for real. Until then I take it he is.

Oliver Perez (NYM) @ Mike Leake (CIN)
Kevin Mulvey (ARI) @ Felipe Paulino (HOU)
Max Scherzer (DET) @ Scott Baker (MIN)
Rich Harden (TEX) @ Dallas Braden (OAK)

Braden pitching at home is worth taking a risk.

Ubaldo Jimenez (COL) @ Kevin Correia (SD)

Peavy is a 50-50 case, it may well work out or it may not. Granted, I don't expect him to get tossed around.
Considering his performances there is no reason to ditch Garcia but the Phillies have been very hot against the Mets at home. That's going to be dangerous.

Hey, Matthew Leach and myself are currently big on David Freese wink

I'm rolling the dice with Peavy tonight. I agree about Garcia. This is his first big test, taking on the Phils in that ballpark.

Glad to see Pitch or Ditch back
