Probable Pitchers for Wednesday, May 27
Todd Wellemeyer (STL) @ Manny Parra (MIL)
Fair enough, Parra got thumped by the Twins, but let’s not forget the good performances he had before that game, including a game against the Cardinals in which he allowed 2 earned runs in 6 innings.
Andy Sonnanstine (TB) @ TBA (CLE)
Rick Porcello (DET) @ Kyle Davies (KC)
Zach Duke (PIT) @ Carlos Zambrano (CHC)
Roy Halladay (TOR) @ Rich Hill (BAL)
Jake Peavy (SD) @ Billy Buckner (ARI)
Clayton Kershaw (LAD) @ Ubaldo Jimenez (COL)
I ditch Kershaw because he has control issues and got pretty lucky against the Halos. That’s not good enough for Coors Field and bear in mind that he gave up 9 runs in 4.2 innings there a month ago.
I ditch Jimenez because the Dodgers are red hot with their bats. This could become a high scoring game.
Erik Bedard (SEA) @ Trevor Cahill (OAK)
I like Cahill at home. Earlier this year he gave up 1 run in 7 innings against the Mariners but lost.
Burke Badenhop (FLA) @ Brett Myers (PHI)
Felipe Paulino (HOU) @ Bronson Arroyo (CIN)
Jordan Zimmermann (WAS) @ Johan Santana (NYM)
A.J. Burnett (NYY) @ Derek Holland (TEX)
Maybe it is time to ditch Burnett until he gets his act together. I can’t really recommend him anymore.
Daisuke Matsuzaka (BOS) @ Kevin Slowey (MIN)
Gavin Floyd (CWS) @ Jered Weaver (LAA)
Kenshin Kawakami (ATL) @ Randy Johnson (SF)
I don’t have enough reasons to believe that this is going to be the 299th win for Randy Johnson.
