It’s Week 15 in the NFL and the playoffs are underway in
some fantasy leagues. A loss now can put an end to a fantasy season. In order
to avoid this here are some players you need to keep an eye on as they may or
may not play this week. There is also one piece of advice that could
essentially give you the edge over your opponent. At the end of the article
you’ll find a couple of players who are ruled out for this week’s games.
QB Derek Anderson, Arizona Cardinals
Derek Anderson is listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game at
Carolina Panthers. The team already announced that John Skelton will be the
starting quarterback. If you’re affected by his head injury your best options
may be Jason Campbell (OAK) or Kerry Collins (TEN). If you’re desperate try
Drew Stanton (DET), Colt McCoy (CLE) or Rex Grossman (WAS).
WR Terrell Owens, Buffalo Bills
The wide receiver suffers from a knee injury and is
questionable for the game against the Cleveland Browns. He is expected to play
though. His production may have decreased over the past few weeks but he has
been a productive fantasy player overall.
WR Roy Williams, Dallas Cowboys
Roy Williams is questionable for Sunday’s game at Washington
Redskins due to a groin injury. He’ll be a game-time decision. Dez Bryant’s
season ending injury could prove to be his benefit. If you don’t want to take
the risk try to pick up Mike Williams (SEA) or Joe Webb (MIN). Yes you heard
right, Joe Webb. The quarterback is expected to start this week but has WR eligibility
in some leagues.
QB Kyle Orton, Denver Broncos
The quarterback who suffers from a rib injury is listed as
questionable for Sunday’s game against the Oakland Raiders. Although a
game-time decision, it is likely that Tim Tebow will get his first start at
last.
QB Shaun Hill, Detroit Lions
Shaun Hill, who is suffering from a broken finger, has not
yet been ruled out for Sunday’s game at Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It is most likely
though that Drew Stanton will start his 3rd consecutive game for the
Lions.
QB Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers
After suffering his second concussion of the season, Rodgers
has not been cleared to play at New England Patriots on Sunday. Matt Flynn will
start and, although the Pats don’t have the best past defense, they have been
very effective when it mattered. I see Matt Flynn as a last resort fantasy
option at best.
TE Jacob Tamme, Indianapolis Colts
Jacob Tamme is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game
against Jacksonville Jaguars because of a knee injury. It’s very likely that he
will play. If you’re looking for other options try Owen Daniels (HOU), Tony
Moeaki (KC) or John Carlson (SEA).
WR Austin Collie, Indianapolis Colts
The wideout is listed as questionable due to a concussion
but is very likely to go on Sunday.
RB Joseph Addai, Indianapolis Colts
The running back’s status has been downgraded from doubtful
to questionable. It’s possible that he’ll get to see some action on Sunday but
Donald Brown will remain the main rusher, at least for another week. Tashard
Choice (DAL) or Ricky Williams (MIA) are possible pick-ups for this week.
QB David Garrard, Jacksonville Jaguars
David Garrard has a hamstring issue and is listed as
questionable for Sunday’s game at Indianapolis Colts. He is expected to play
but remains a game-time decision. Trent Edwards would get the start if Garrard
can’t play.
RB Maurice Jones-Drew, Jacksonville Jaguars
The running back is listed as questionable because of a knee
injury but is expected to play. His status should be checked before kick-off.
Should he not be able to play Rashad Jennings would be his replacement.
QB Matt Cassel, Kansas City Chiefs
Matt Cassel will be a game-time decision on Sunday at St.
Louis Rams, as he is still recovering from an emergency appendectomy. He sat
out last week and his status needs to be confirmed before kick-off. Brodie
Croyle, who passed for an unimpressive 40 yards against San Diego Chargers last
week, would be his replacement.
WR Percy Harvin, Minnesota Vikings
The wide receiver who missed the past two games with
migraine is expected to return to the lineup for Monday Night Football against
the Chicago Bears.
QB Brett Favre, Minnesota Vikings
Brett Favre has been ruled out for Monday’s game due to a
shoulder injury. Rookie Joe Webb will start and should be added in leagues
where he has WR eligibility.
RB Christopher Ivory, New Orleans Saints
The running back, who’s been bothered by a hamstring injury,
is listed as questionable. He is a game-time decision but is likely to miss the
game at Baltimore Ravens. You should check his availability before kick-off but
expect Pierre Thomas to get the start instead.
WR DeSean Jackson, Philadelphia Eagles
DeSean Jackson is listed as questionable for Sunday’s clash
at the New York Giants due to an ankle injury. While he is very likely to play
you’re best advised to check his status before kick-off.
TE Heath Miller, Pittsburgh Steelers
The tight end, who suffered a concussion, is listed as
doubtful for Sunday’s game against the New York Jets but has been ruled out to
play and will miss a second consecutive game. Matt Spaeth will be his
replacement.
RB Ryan Torain, Washington Redskins
Ryan Torain returned to action last Sunday for the first
time since Week 8 and rushed for 172 yards. It is safe to say that he will play
against Dallas Cowboys despite being listed as questionable with a hamstring
injury.
And here are some players who are listed as Out, which means
you have to be prepared to set up your lineups without them:
QB Matthew Stafford (DET), TE Todd Heap (BAL).
